ten things I've learned in 365 days in New York city
6:47:00 AMMay 21st will mark my one year anniversary in this wild city. It has been the fastest, dizziest and most delicious year of my life and I would like to share what I've learned as I walk (confidently) in to Year Two.
1. Take care of yourself. Take your showers, do your laundry, drink your water, work hard at the office and celebrate every single Saturday.
2. You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. Yes, even in Manhattan - kindness will bring you further than ignorance. A smile at a stranger is better than a stare.
3. Always be (physically) looking up. Most of the city's beauty is above your eyes...and the celebrities.
4. It's not possible to live in your comfort zone in this city, so don't even try.
5. Stand up for something. If you don't have an opinion, you are invisible.
6. Plants in your home.
7. Bring your own utensils, buy a metal straw, shop at produce stands and never leave the apartment without a tote bag.
8. Become OKAY with having to spend some money.
9. Ain't nothing wrong with a side hustle, hunnies.
10. Smile, because a year is just a New York Minute and it goes too quickly to do anything but.
