A MONTH IN MOMENTS // OCTOBER

1:00:00 AM

October has simply floated by like the leaves in its crisp autumn winds. Although I am sad to see it go, I am thankful for and still holding on to the gifts it has brought me.

October included travels to weird Austin, Texas and memorable visits to the 6th street bars with Mom and Dad. It was a downtown experience with parents that I will never forget.

It's brought the realization that flying offers world recognition, seeing the peace of mind and thoughtfulness that comes from watching the sun rise to your level and witnessing the world wake up down below.

It's brought the richest of colors and the deepest of reds. It has accented the most intimate and lovely details of nature that we take for granted. Autumn is mother nature's time to shine. Showing her power and control she has on the life surrounding us. Autumn is her last gift to us as she leads us into winter.

October has brought great notice to myself. My favorite question to ask was: "How does my body feel?" Listening to my body, doing what it needs, brought great self contentment as well as self control.

October, a lovely gift in itself, brought many small gifts. So, thank you October for giving me somethings to take with me into November.

MY MIX // AN AUTUMN PLAYLIST

1:00:00 AM

Is it truly a lovely adventure Fall without a new acoustic, folky, indie playlist? I think not.

It's been a minute since I've created a playlist with some of my new favorites, but I think it was worth the wait, as I had an absolute blast piecing this playlist together. Each of these songs brings a certain peace and reflection that causes me to daydream, float among the changing leaves, and satisfies that Fall craving.

I've really been enjoying Iron & Wine as well as The Head and The Heart. Their sound is like poetry with a musical rhythm that fits the lyrics like a glove.

I've been listening to this during my longer walks across campus, when sipping tea and watching candles flicker, and during my 6:30am commute to sunrise yoga. Its peace generating sounds fill the Fall days with sweet contentedness.

A MONTH IN MOMENTS // SEPTEMBER

5:57:00 PM

September has left and Autumn has arrived.

Breathing in these crisp mornings with the biting air and that soft scent of leaves and the brisk wind of October, I exhale the business and the fun that was September.

I traveled, I reflected, I set intentions, and I woke before the sun. September was successful.

And so now we face October. I've set new goals and carried over my intentions I had not yet checked off from September. I hope that the natural beauty and breathtaking views of September will transfer over as well.

So cheers to a new month and my challenge to live presently in this beautiful season.

A MONTH IN MOMENTS // OCTOBER

1:00:00 AM

I can't believe that I have already made two "a month in moments" posts for october here. Time truly does just race away from us.

This october was spent much like the last with pumpkins, corn mazes, Halloween costumes (sushi this year), and lots of warm drinks.

One thing that no camera can capture, however, is just how glorious and breathtaking this autumn season has been. I have never seen natural beauty quite like a have this fall.

a month in moments // October

october was lovely. filled with new people, eye-opening experiences, gorgeous sights, and meaningful memories, october was 31 days to remember.

while this month was stressful, it was also blissful and while it was bitter cold it allowed the first opportunity to break out the thigh-high socks and the apple cider.

from pumpkin picking to dressing-up for halloween, and from studying all night to standing at football games all day, i was completely content.

time truly does fly but it leaves us with memories of simple, sweet moments and a smile.

Sunday Funday // Doe Creek Farm

6:34:00 AM

there is something so lovely about being outside in the crisp autumn air, surrounded by mountains, and sharing the day with friends.
this past Sunday, was truly one of the most perfect Sundays since moving to Virginia.  my friends and I discovered a small farm and orchard in the valley of the Appalachian Mountains, surrounded by miles of breath-taking orange and purple trees.  and so, naturally, after deciding that we would travel to pick some apples, I grabbed my camera, scarf, and iPod, and we set out for our morning adventure.  we walked dozens of rows of beautifully colored apples, we grabbed caramel apples and small jars of apple butter, and when it was time to leave, we drove back through the mountains, listening to Mumford & Sons, Avett Brothers, and Modest Mouse on full blast, and stared at the natural beauty that is Virginia. it was, undoubtedly, a perfect beginning to Fall.
