raw gem rings // DIY

10:52:00 AM

I love creating. Jewelry, makeup, cooking, gardening, whatever. And I appreciate the holidays because I love to give what I've created with people, especially if I've created something that matches that person so well.

On a recent rockhounding adventure in November (blogged about here), I collected some beautiful gems and stones in their rawest form. Although they have not been polished, cut, or heat treated, their structure still thrills me. I had these stones, both big and small, scattered around my room, carefully thinking about what I could do with them until it hit me and I couldn't quite order my materials fast enough.

I decided to make claw rings with my stones and hand selected the type of stone with properties that most aligned my mother, my sister, and I. Creating each piece was simple and straightforward but the finished product is so beautiful and holds so much meaning.

I used...
wire cutters - to trim the claws
multitool - to bend the claws
claw band (I ordered mine from here)
stones

The steps I took are simple. Just pick your stone, learn its properties, position it within the band's outstretched arms, trim down the arms, and have them hug the stone. I placed my pieces in small boxes among feathers with a small piece of paper describing the stones' characteristics.

I will surely be making more of these rings so keep an eye on the etsy shop

THE SHOP // MOON DROPS

1:00:00 AM

There are new goodies in the shop!

Say hello to Moon Drops. One of my most recent creations that I am so thrilled about.

Too many nights I lay wide awake, confused about why my mind won't rest and why my body won't relax. There are few things more frustrating than when you are exhausted but just can not fall asleep. And so, it was one of these sleepless nights, when I shot up straight with the idea for this product.

Moon Drops is made with relaxing and soothing natural scents, infused under a crescent moon. Each bottle is filled with a balance of lavender, with it's therapeutic and relaxing properties, and vanilla with its warmth then placed under a crescent moon and sealed in the morning before the sun rises.

Why the crescent moon? A full moon is known to disturb us internally, not in a bad way, but our bodies naturally respond to a full moon. A crescent moon, however, offers a time for new beginnings and is said to be a time of casting spells.

I like to mist a few pumps on my pillow, PJs, sheets, or even my hands before settling down for the night. It's also the perfect thing to take along to a hotel to make those cold rooms feel a little more home-y.

Be sure to check out the Moon Drops on www.lovelyadventureblog.etsy.com.

THE SHOP

It's so exciting when an idea or dream is set into motion, and it is even better when your little idea turns out to be a little successful.

I've wanted to start a little Etsy shop for a while, and I finally created enough pieces to start it! I'm so excited to see where it goes and so thrilled with how it has gone so far. I am so thankful to all my shoppers who have purchased my things.  And even if shoppers don't buy anything, I hope they are at least a bit inspired.

So cheers to a new, lovely adventure and be on the look out for more goodies :)
