happy new year!

6:29:00 AM

2015 was a year of learning. A year of growth and a year of mistakes. A year of meeting new people and embracing the old friends. A year of music and dancing and a year of personal reflection and community involvement.

2015 had it all, in some ways good and in some ways bad but one thing is for certain and that is that I am beyond ready for 2016 and what it has in store.

Dear 2016, here are my New Years wishes:

-a healthier look on life
-a more motivated self
-meet new, lovely, inspiring people
-loosen up a bit
-read more, YouTube less
-please make online shopping disappear
-radiate love and happiness, not stress and negativity
-reach the darn fitness lifestyle goals already geeeeez
-keep my faith centered in my daily life and love
-(blog more????? probably should)

I hope you all had a lovely night celebrating this new year and I wish you the best in 2016. Cheers!

birthday

celebrate // a chocolatey birthday

1:00:00 AM

Last week my family and some friends celebrated my mother's birthday. It was a lovely day filled with her two favorite things: exercise and chocolate. A contradiction? Absolutely. But, with her bod, she really doesn't need to worry about it.

I decided I would take it upon myself (because I love it) to bake up a storm and feed her chocolate obsession. It was a great success! And super trendy, if I do say so myself.

I served pop-in cookies (because mini is better than regular) and the queen of all chocolate cakes.

Also, I think Sprinkles for Breakfast may be the death of me. SO cute. SO yummy. Check it out!

happy holidays

10:58:00 AM

the holidays have always held some sort of magic. with the ability to unite families, bring together neighbors, and spread joy to millions of people, the holidays are almost unreal.

my love for the holidays is ultimately due to the joy among family, the winter weather, and the tiny moments that make you smile inside and out.

i love the subtle, white lights of trees through a window, the idea of people thinking of others, the simply packaged boxes, and the never-ceasing christmas music in every store.  i am a sucker for christmas.

i am also a sucker for the people that can take such a classic holiday and turn it upside down.  the holidays have been celebrated the same ways for so long and i adore when someone takes a simple tradition and changes it up. whether it be a new kind of christmas tree or a different way to wrap a present, these new ideas and the inspiring people that think of them have my major admiration. keep it up!

and so, with the holiday season in full-swing, here are a few of my favorite holiday things, ideas, or whatever!

happy holidays!

thankful

10:53:00 AM

another lovely thanksgiving has come and passed. and although it was short, it was sweet.
as i move back in to my tiny dorm room, i reminisce on the floating aroma of sweet potatoes, the crinkling leaves underneath my hiking boots, the tales told by the snapping fire, and the laughter shared among adults and children alike.
being in the mountains of asheville, the trees, hills, and their massiveness makes it easy to step back and realize everything and everyone i have in my own little world. i have so much to be thankful for and there will never be enough time to tell. however, realizing how thankful and blessed you are, i think, is a big step towards gratefulness and happiness.
i will say this: walking through the silent forest, hiking to grand waterfalls, looking down a winding creek, and breathing in fresh mountain air made for a blissful thanksgiving. and for that, i am forever grateful.
