MY MIX // AN AUTUMN PLAYLIST

1:00:00 AM

Is it truly a lovely adventure Fall without a new acoustic, folky, indie playlist? I think not.

It's been a minute since I've created a playlist with some of my new favorites, but I think it was worth the wait, as I had an absolute blast piecing this playlist together. Each of these songs brings a certain peace and reflection that causes me to daydream, float among the changing leaves, and satisfies that Fall craving.

I've really been enjoying Iron & Wine as well as The Head and The Heart. Their sound is like poetry with a musical rhythm that fits the lyrics like a glove.

I've been listening to this during my longer walks across campus, when sipping tea and watching candles flicker, and during my 6:30am commute to sunrise yoga. Its peace generating sounds fill the Fall days with sweet contentedness.

FIREFLY MUSIC FESTIVAL 2016

10:56:00 AM

Firefly 2016. Oh my goodness. What an absolute dream you were. One of the best weekends of my life.  The music, the company, the weather, the atmosphere. It was all a fantasy.

I've said it so many times before, but live music is my favorite thing in the entire world.  There is nothing I love more than that feeling of music shaking you to your core. I'll never get enough of it.

Concerts are like my addiction.  I spend way too much money but I can't get enough of the feeling.  And music festivals are like an overdose of this happiness, excitement, complete bliss that I feel when I hear live music. It rocks.

I'd say after three years at Firefly Music Festival that I am pretty much a festival veteran, and, yes I will be sad to not go to Firefly next year, but I will undoubtedly be at other shows, eyes closed, swaying back and forth, to the sounds that grab my soul.

So thank you Firefly, for my three favorite summers ever.  I wouldn't trade the memories, sounds, feelings, and friends for anything.

There were so many incredible moments that the entire weekend was really just one big highlight reel but if I had to name a few...

-Tame Impala. One of the top three best concerts I've ever been to.  The lights, confetti, visuals, Kevin Parker, everything. I can't even put into words how truly happy, stoked, dazed, and speechless I was.

-Third row for M83 where the bass blew out our ear drums in the most painfully awesome way.

-The remarkable surprise of how RAD Louis the Child was.

-Crowdsurfing at Major Lazer.

-Throwing glowsticks inside the tent when we couldn't get enough of Deadmau5's set.

-Peanut butter sandwiches at 3am with my best friends.

GETTING READY // FIREFLY MUSIC FESTIVAL

1:00:00 AM

Summer time is here, festival season is in full swing, and I could not be more stoked! Live music is my all time favorite thing in the entire world and nothing beats live music in the open, summer air.

Over the course of the past three years of attending Firefly, I have fallen head-over-heels in love with music festivals. The idea of thousands of people coming together to listen to good music and be out among the trees and under the sun paralyzes me with happiness. I've met so many incredible people from so many different places, I've learned what music does to me personally, and I've made a lifetime of memories from the best weekend of the year.

This year's festival is less than two weeks away and I can't go a day without my mind wandering to the subject.  I am so ready. Body and soul. I'm typing so quickly I'm so stoked.

It is so hard for me to compare which of the years was the best, seeing that each year held new and different experiences with new people, different weather, and a fresh lineup. I've loved each festival so dearly and I wouldn't trade those weekends for the world.

So, in honor of the final countdown to Firefly 2016, I've compiled some of my favorite photos from the past years.

This year I am most excited to see
-Kings of Leon
-Tame Impala
-Mumford and Sons
-Earth, Wind, and Fire
-The Struts
-Two Door Cinema Club
-Catfish and the Bottlemen

my mix // feelin good

1:00:00 AM

New year new jams, right? Right.

Recently I feel like I've been kind of stuck in a music rut.  I used to spend so much time discovering new music, jamming out in my room, and making playlists.  It's been so long since I've found new and fun music that I just want to play on repeat all day.  So I've made it a goal to get back into the music scene.  Music is my all time favorite thing and I should definitely be making time for it in my busy schedule.

I mean, everyone knows I love music.  I even came into college with a music minor and I never even declared that I wanted to minor in anything at all.  Needless to say, that issue is completely taken care of now :)

So heres a short playlist that I will be adding on to.  I've been listening to this when getting ready in the morning before class, getting ready at night to go out, and every second in between.  My heart is happy to have found some new jams.

my mix // thankful jams

Once again, this year my family will be spending Thanksgiving in the mountains.  Bat Cave is a beautiful hidden wonder in the great Blue Ridge Mountains.  It always feels so natural to spend Thanksgiving with family here with hiking, shooting, cooking, and exploring darling Asheville.

When we are in the mountain cabin, there is a certain type of music that just feels so right.  A mix of folk, indie, and acoustic flows through the air like the smell of spices and coffee.  It doesn't create a mood but instead enhances the mood.  The right playlist in the right setting is a beautiful thing.

fourth of july

my mix // festive 4th tunes

1:00:00 AM

I've always loved the 4th of July. Whether it's celebrated with the gang and extreme fireworks or just the fam and a late night kayak adventure, the long day has always excited me.

Somehow, my family has always managed to celebrate the day on the water, either on the beach, the bay, or the lake. And there is something about the combination of water, celebration, and summer that calls for a certain playlist, right? Right. So here it is! My festive 4th mix! Enjoy and have an awesome holiday!

my mix // a playlist for the june bug

YES! June is finally here. It is officially summer. Bring on the late nights of star gazing, gigantic (yet necessary) ice cream cones, and the lobster sunburns.  To me, summer and the perfect playlist go hand in hand. Whether I'm lounging on the beach, walking alongside the river with my pup, or lounging in the trunk of my car with a milkshake and my bffs, the summer jams are always bumping.

So here are some tunes to take your summer and your radio up a notch...enjoy!

fall

a playlist for the mountaineer

1:39:00 PM

in two weeks i will be in the smokey mountains, surrounded by loving family, hiking the leaf-laidened trails, and sitting by the fire, reading and sharing stories. thanksgiving is my favorite day of the year because every aspect is always so humbling being in nature, eating good home cooked meals, and being with extraordinary people.

as i sit in a coffee shop, sipping on my pumpkin coffee, daydreaming about the upcoming break, i can't help but plan my playlist. the drive to Bat Cave, NC, is always pleasant due to the breathtaking scenery, and being the music obsessor that i am, i always plan a playlist for the journey. so, i figured that i would share this little playlist.

enjoy!
